In 1905, Amos Sherriff—a Leicester brick maker who remained illiterate until his late twenties—co-led 497 unemployed men on a 100-mile march to London to demand the Right to Work.
The elite establishment of the day scoffed at them. The press branded the marchers "riff-raff" and "scum." Amos ignored them, organised the working class into an unstoppable political force, and eventually became the city's first Labour Lord Mayor.
Amos is our founder. The march didn't end in 1905; it just moved online. We are finishing what he started.
